A community group took over the museum for Hallowe'en. Who would have thought a dimly lit subterranean cavern filled with a couple million dead things would be creepy? Within the labyrinth, piles of detritus disguised vaguely anthropomorphic shapes, including an empty space wherein one person sat spotlighted on the ground, motionless, with a hat covering her face.

New bus route to get to lunch.
Guy clothed overly slickly in different shades of black. Five minutes to the bus arriving at the stop. Cigarette. Second cigarette. Bus in view, discards half-finished second cigarette, starts third and last cigarette in the pack. Discards pack on the sidewalk at the base of a trash can. Sucks down third cigarette and cuts in front of me to get on the bus.
Bus driver; older guy, announces each stop over the intercom as well as connecting buses, local landmarks, and reminds people of the perks of monthy bus passes.
Woman accessorized in pink, rocking out enthusiastically to her headphones, big grin on her face beaming out to the traffic on Burrard.
Man in a yellow raincoat, seemingly asleep, sprawled out on his back on a sidewalk on Pender. A few steps away two people were engaged in grooming the faces of other people they were with.

Felt like making bread. I've been making quick breads (muffins, loaves, scones) for breakfast for a year. Tried some not completely satisfactory quick bread cinnamon buns. I think they need yeast.
Then I watched a 90 minute BBC special on making bread.
Then a friend of mine wrote this: (Globe and Mail)
    I bought yeast.
Of course, I happened to be in an Asian grocery store at the time, so finding three different kinds of rice flour was no problem but finding yeast was a challenge. I was staring at the baking-ish section for a while before a non-descript small white envelope labelled in Chinese showing a steamer full of bao revealed itself to be the only available form of yeast in the store.
Whatever, it worked. I think it's been five years since I've done a leavened bread.

    Let's see where this goes.
