New things I did this month in Haiku form:
Re-Up Barbecue:
Pulled pork on a bun,
A seven-dollar sandwich,
Pretty good, not great.
Green Roof Tour:
Top of library,
On Oberlander's invite,
Wind among the grass.
In the Lab:
Playing with black light,
New owl feathers glow pink,
And so does dandruff.
Maenam
Thai food, much is made
Of the balance of flavours
So why so much salt?
Police Museum Visit:
Old autopsy room,
Morgue, homemade weapons, also
Kid's birthday party.
I was walking home after dark through the residential streets, the sidewalks bordered by little strips of grassy lawn. I was about two feet away from something when it moved, a large squirrel or a small cat, I thought, then I saw the stripes. The skunk ran ahead a little ways, then turned around and lifted itself into a handstand. This was when I decided to turn around and walk away briskly, curiosity having been overcome by common sense. After a few steps, I turned around to see a bushy black and white tail disappearing into a hedge. I chose to cross the street and walked on, having had enough of urban wildlife for one evening.
