New things I did this month in Haiku form:
New AGO:
Beautiful curved wood,
Far too much Group of Seven,
Love Brian Jungen.
Toronto zoo:
Excited tapir,
Calling out the snow leopard,
What is a d-hole?
Teaching art:
Kids are all artists,
Though some have more promise, and
Some are just spoiled brats.
There's a street corner I pass on my way to work which is, more often than not, ornamented with assorted items in an impromptu cashless marketplace. An urban exchange in front of a fenced-off empty lot. The chief operator is a person whom a friend (and fellow museum geek) dubbed "the curator". He sports an unkempt head and full beard of white hair and is usually spotted in a black hoodie. Often he will be arranging hanging items on the chain link fence, or otherwise stacking goods on the sidewalk. The city has posted a sign on the fence saying "No dumping of household goods" and once a city truck pulled over and a guy started packing up everything into the bed. A woman stopped and asked if she could take the set of martini glasses.
One day I was planning an event, and was wondering where I could pick up a clipboard, when a clipboard appeared on the sidewalk. Had the bus stop been not quite so full of people, I might have picked it up, and later regretted not doing it anyway.
Today's selection of items included two couches, one a worn grey velvet missing the seat cushions, the other a lighter grey, sleeker number. Between them sat a bright red desk chair.
