Mites and Other Microarthropods
The purpose of the site was to provide an easily accessible visual library of microarthropod species encountered during ecological experiments. I drew over 500 specimens under the microscope and photographed them using depth-of-field reconstruction software. The drawings were inked and labelled with identifying characteristics, and each species was described with illustrations and photos. The species pages are accessible by various means, including a matrix-based identification key as well as by index pages of scale drawings of visually similar species. The website was constructed in stages over a two year period.
