LAB #5 - Polytrichum piliferum

Polytrichum piliferum is a small member of the Polytrichidae. You will find it on outcrops such as this on Eagle Ridge (Horseshoe Bay).

The patch of P. piliferum has a greyish look.

This is due to the leaf hairpoints.

The reddish-brown sporophytes mature in summer.
