Below is a picture of the underside of the plant to show the complicately bilobed lateral leaves. An lateral leaf is outlined in pink and you can see that it consists of a large lobe and a smaller lobule. An underleaf is outlined in blue.
FEMALE PLANTS: Below you can see a female plant. Perianth are fused leaves which function to protect the archegoniaand the developing sporophytes.
The sporangium matures prior to the seta elongating.
You can see the immature spores still in tetrads below. The elaters are also not finished differentiating.
