LAB #3 - Plagiomnium insigne

Plagiomnium insigne is common to the forests of our area. It is often called "giant moss".

These are female plants (you can see the immature sporophytes.

The stem cross-section reveals a conducting strand of hydroids..
The margins of the leaf are differentiated (as you saw in Rhizomnium glabrescens ). In this case the margin is also toothed.
