Funaria hygrometrica

The calyptra has fallen off of the sporangium. On the far right is the operculum, which will fall off after the annulus (the ring just beside it) comes off. The annulus is like the plastic ring that holds cans of frozen juice closed; the operculum is like the lid. Once the operculum and annulus have fallen off, the spores can be dispersed.
