Plagiothecium undulatum

This pale yellow-green moss is commonly called snake moss because of its characteristic leaf undulations. Another popular name this moss has acquired is tongue moss. Apparently, the shoots have a tongue-like texture. The sporophytes are reddish-brown with two rows of peristome teeth:

Plagiothecium undulatum - There are two rows of peristome teeth, the inner row is called the endostome and the outer row of teeth are called the exostome. This arrangement is common among the Bryidae.

This moss is usually found in shaded forest sites, on humus, rotten logs, at the base of trees, and rarely on rocks.
