Lepidozia reptans - the "little hands" liverwort

The common name for Lepidozia reptans is little hands liverwort. Close inspection of the leaves of Lepidozia reptans shows the three (or four) lobes that look like fingers. The leaves are arranged in three rows. There are two lateral rows (lateral leaves) and one row under the stem (underleaves). L. reptans forms loose mats over its substrate, and from afar looks like deep green paint.

Lepidozia reptans - the small "fingers" are called "lobes"
